Weightloss #1

Tonight's post is a little different. For a while now I have been a little body concious after piling on a fair amount of pounds after the addition of the contraceptive implant so I figured it was about time I did something about it. I've always been a little on the chubby side and the smallest my 5ft 8 frame could pull off is a size 12 as I'm not 'built' to be any slimmer than that and I have never been bullied about my weight so there is no bowing into pressure here - I am aiming to lose weight to be comfortable in myself and that is my only aim.

Above are photos from late last year but they are just to give a general idea on my rough size. I'm the one in the red hoody and I'm around the size 14/16 (UK)

My goal is to get back down to a size 12, which I feel is more than possible for me. To achieve this I have recently increased the amount of exercise I do and I have a stationary bike in my bedroom and I have also been eating much cleaner (virtually no processed foods where I can avoid them!). Come Monday I plan on starting Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred which has proved a success for a lot of people I have spoken to on the matter, and once I start work I'm going to get myself a gym membership - although I don't feel this is necessary to lose weight I think it will motivate me to workout more if I'm paying money for it!

I have a very supportive boyfriend and lovely friends who have been helping me and I know will stick by me on my way to achieving my goals. I have one incredibly inspirational friends, Ellen, who has been on her own journey and she looks absolutely gorgeous - the proof that a better lifestyle is there so here I go!

I'll be keeping track of my weightloss on here. Weigh ins, significant changes in appearance, that sort of thing. I will ignore any negativity posted on the subject of my weight and/or appearance.

Do you have any good tips for weightloss?

  1. My tips would be to not weigh yourself too often, don't stress about the number on the scale. Eat as clean as you can, exercise (but don't become an exercise freak), loose weight slowly and keep if off for good and always remember that you need to sustain this "clean" and better lifestyle, because, if you loose weight and then go back to your old ways, all will be in vain (trust me, I've been there, a lot). :D

Good luck and power to you for not wanting to be a size 0. :D

    1. What do you think about once a fortnight? Or is that too often? I don't think I could ever be one of those people who weigh themselves constantly, I'd forget ha!
Thank you very much for the advice, Maja, really appreciate it!

  2. I would advise you to weigh in every week. For example weigh yourself every Sunday (I always weigh myself when I wake up). This is a good way to see, if you are making progress and, if not you know you need to change things. You should also know that loosing weight is about 80% diet and 20% exercise. You can exercise like crazy but, if your diet sucks it won't make a big difference. :) Also... be aware that you will eventually hit a plateau - which means you will stop loosing weight/your weight will stay the same. If you want to continue to loose weight you need to clean up your diet even more and change up your exercise routine (more intense, HIIT workouts). :)

  4. Hi Victoria
I followed the slimming world plan and it really helped me a lot. I was originally put off, because I thought it would be like Weight Watchers, in the sense you basically starve yourself, but it's really not. The basic idea is, you cook everything from scratch, therefore you know exactly what's gone into it. Of course, some things you can actually eat from the packet, I'd recommend checking out the slimming world website for that. I guess my main tip would be ensuring one third of your plate is full of superfree foods! (fruits and vegetables) it may seem like a pain, but it honestly does help. You can still have all of your favourite foods, like bacon, burgers, chips and stuff, as long as they're made the correct way. I'd highly recommend picking up the Slimming World magazine, it's great and they can help you recreate your takeaway favourites.

Although it's not for everyone, if you have the confidence, I'd highly recommend joining a class; no one will know your weight, apart from your consultant and it really does spur you on to try each week. You'll get the opportunity to talk to other women in the same position as you and it's honestly a fantastic help. You're rewarded with certificates every time you reach a milestone, which influences you further.

You're encouraged to keep active, but honestly, following their diet plan, you can be as lazy as you like, although you probably wouldn't want to, lol, but the pounds will drop off. I didn't expect it to be as easy as it was.

I have a sample of my food intake I had one week, where I lost 4lbs if you'd be interested in seeing that? Let me know.

With regards to weighing yourself, do it once a week, probably best in the morning, because that will be your true weight.

I hope I could be of some help :) Feel free to tweet me or something, if you'd like to know anything and please let us know how you get on!

    1. oh, and you can eat as much as you want :) Thats why I'd highly recommend it. And you're allowed your treats too. You're encouraged to have a treat a day, well up to 15 syns. A chocolate bar could be 12 syns for example, and 15 is your daily limit, so you won't be deprived of your favourite things.

.. just if you were wondering :)
