Weightloss #1

Tonight's post is a little different. For a while now I have been a little body concious after piling on a fair amount of pounds after the addition of the contraceptive implant so I figured it was about time I did something about it. I've always been a little on the chubby side and the smallest my 5ft 8 frame could pull off is a size 12 as I'm not 'built' to be any slimmer than that and I have never been bullied about my weight so there is no bowing into pressure here - I am aiming to lose weight to be comfortable in myself and that is my only aim.

Above are photos from late last year but they are just to give a general idea on my rough size. I'm the one in the red hoody and I'm around the size 14/16 (UK)

My goal is to get back down to a size 12, which I feel is more than possible for me. To achieve this I have recently increased the amount of exercise I do and I have a stationary bike in my bedroom and I have also been eating much cleaner (virtually no processed foods where I can avoid them!). Come Monday I plan on starting Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred which has proved a success for a lot of people I have spoken to on the matter, and once I start work I'm going to get myself a gym membership - although I don't feel this is necessary to lose weight I think it will motivate me to workout more if I'm paying money for it!

I have a very supportive boyfriend and lovely friends who have been helping me and I know will stick by me on my way to achieving my goals. I have one incredibly inspirational friends, Ellen, who has been on her own journey and she looks absolutely gorgeous - the proof that a better lifestyle is there so here I go!

I'll be keeping track of my weightloss on here. Weigh ins, significant changes in appearance, that sort of thing. I will ignore any negativity posted on the subject of my weight and/or appearance.

Hair Care

When it comes to hair, as much as I'd like to I don't have the time or money to really put a lot of effort into it,  hence why I use only a select few products in caring and styling. Of course not everything I use will be included in this post - I will talk about those in other, hair-style specific posts - but the main products I use for a lazy, Vickie standard hair style are shown above. Now allow me to talk you through them.

1. Aussie Miracle Moist shampoo & conditioner (2 for £6 at Superdrug)
I absolutely swear by this stuff. I can probably say that Aussie was the first haircare brand I became absolutely obsessed with at the age of 13, mainly because of how beautiful all of their products smell, added to the fact that I had just started to dye my hair. I wash my hair on average 2-3 times a week and use both of these products. However, I am thinking of changing my shampoo and conditioner relatively soon... (no fault of Aussie's, just to mix things up a little!)

2. L'oreal Paris Studio Hot Straight Cream (£3.55 at Superdrug)
This is something I always apply when blowdrying my hair. As my hair is very thick, wavy and frizzy this really helps to calm it down. I use a pea sized dollop, rub it into the palms of my hands and just quickly run them through wet hair. I only blowdry my hair until it is damp, not dry.

3. L'oreal Paris Studio Matt & Messy Salt Spray (£3.55 at Superdrug)
After I've dried my hair until it is damp and without brushing it I simply spray this evenly through out my hair, scrunch it, sort out any tangled fly aways just using my fingers and then leave my hair to dry. This creates an effortless waved look to my hair which I absolutely adore. It is so low maintenance which is a God send for someone like me who can't really leave the house without doing something to my hair because of how wild and messy it is!

4. KTC Almond Oil (£1.49 at Superdrug)
This is a very recent addition to my haircare routine. I've started to use this twice a week, and apply a small amount through the ends of my hair before going to sleep. On washing out in the morning it leaves my hair soft and shiny. The only downside to this as far as treatments go is that it doesn't have a smell to it, being the sort of person who is absolutely obsessed with lovely smelling things this was a bit of a bummer! However, at that tiny price I could not resist buying this multi purpose product (it can also be used on dry skin) and it will definitely be staying with me.

After doing this post I realised that most of my products are purchased from Superdrug! I'm sure you can get all of these items in other places such as Boots, Bodycare, your local Supermarket and of course online, but I like to do all of my shopping in one place as best as I can.

ASOS purchase!

dress, here

Pretty recently I decided it was time for me to lose weight. At 5ft 8 and a UK size 14 and occasionally or at certain places a size 16, I wouldn't say I was fat but I'm certainly one of the bigger girls. I don't mind my figure and I'm not all into the body hate thing, but I figured it was about time I got my ass (literally) into shape.
After noticing me spend hours and hours trawling through dresses online, my lovely boyfriend decided he'd buy me my favourite dress out of all the ones I'd looked at in the size I want to drop down to, as sort of a motivation for me. It's safe to say I was beyond chuffed!
I originally wanted to buy this in the navy shade in a size 12, however I was disappointed to find that they were out of stock. However, this sort of worked out well for me, mainly because my wardrobe is absolutely full of dark greys, navys and greens (and of course black) it was about time I brought some colour into it. So, after some debate, Ryan ordered me the coral shade and I anxiously awaited its arrival.

I am so pleased with this, and for £20 I'm not complaining (although I didn't pay!). I really love the dresses from ASOS, and you can find some great dresses at reasonable prices, as well as great dresses for big prices!
So in love with this summery shade, however I am wondering what would compliment it well. Heels, flats, colours.
What do you suggest would look nice with this dress?
